Your data

When you write to us

The contact form asks for your name, your email and, if you like, your phone number, along with what you tell us about your decision and how you’d like us to reach you. We use it to answer you and follow up. It reaches us as an email in our Microsoft 365 mailbox.

We do this because you asked us to, and because we have a legitimate interest in answering enquiries (GDPR article 6(1)(b) and (f)). We keep the conversation for as long as it’s relevant, and no longer than two years after we were last in touch, unless we go on to work together.

The guide and our newsletter

When you sign up for Reframing Japan, we use your name and email to send you the guide and new chapters as they’re released. If you’ve signed up for our newsletter, we use them to send it to you. Both are sent with Mailchimp (Intuit Inc., USA).

We do this with your consent (GDPR article 6(1)(a)). Every email has a link to unsubscribe, and we keep your details until you do.

Statistics

If you say yes to cookies, we use Google Analytics to see how the site is used: which pages are visited, how people arrive and what kind of device they use. Google Analytics doesn’t store your IP address. We use the numbers to make the site better, never to identify you or to advertise to you.

We only do this with your consent (GDPR article 6(1)(a)), and we keep the data for 14 months. You can change your mind at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page.

Our server

Like any website, our server notes technical details of each visit: your IP address, the time, the page and your browser. We use them to keep the site running and secure, which is our legitimate interest (GDPR article 6(1)(f)), and delete them after 30 days.

Who else handles it

We don’t sell your data or share it with anyone else. Three companies handle it on our behalf, under data processing agreements: Microsoft (email), Mailchimp (the guide and the newsletter) and Google (statistics, only with your consent). Mailchimp and Google may process data in the USA; both are certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

03

Cookies

We only use cookies for statistics, and only if you say yes. Without your consent, the site sets no cookies at all.

Your answer itself is remembered in your browser (as te-consent, not a cookie) for 12 months, so we don’t have to ask on every page. After that, we ask again.

04

Your rights

You can ask us to see the personal data we hold about you, to correct it or to delete it. You can also ask us to limit how we use it, object to our using it, or get it in a format you can take elsewhere. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

Write to contact@twenty-eighty.jp and we’ll answer within a month. If you think we handle your data wrongly, you can complain to the Danish Data Protection Agency, Datatilsynet (datatilsynet.dk).
